Choosing your Groundies

What to know about the fit before you order.

Width

Groundies have an anatomical toe box and suit narrow to medium feet. Good to know: barefoot shoes always leave far more room than conventional shoes, and your toes naturally spread out as you wear them.

Size

Rely on the size chart in cm on the product page; we recommend adding 0.5 to 1.2 cm for comfort.

Sole

Thin, flexible, non-slip TrueSense® sole, zero drop. Sneakers (Universe, Panama, Nova): 3 mm GS1 sole with 3.9 mm tread and a surrounding rim that gives them a classic sneaker look. Odessa ankle boot: 3.3 mm GO1 sole with 3 mm tread.

Which model?

Universe: the smooth-leather sneaker, in white or off-white. Panama: the retro one in nappa and suede leather. Nova GS1: nubuck and perforated suede leather. Odessa: ankle boot in gathered suede leather, for mid-season and mild winter days.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose my Groundies size?

Measure your foot from heel to longest toe, then compare it with the size chart in cm on the product page. We recommend adding 0.5 to 1.2 cm for comfort: closer to 0.5 cm if you like a snug fit, closer to 1.2 cm if you like room for your toes or wear thick socks.

What is the TrueSense® sole?

It is the sole designed by Groundies: thin, flexible and non-slip, with heel and forefoot at the same level (zero drop). It lets the foot move freely while protecting it every day.

The sole has a rim: is it really barefoot?

Yes. On the sneakers, the 3 mm sole is surrounded by a rim that gives a classic sneaker look, without lifting the foot off the ground or stiffening the shoe.

Where are Groundies made?

They are designed in Germany and handmade in Portugal.

Is the Odessa warm?

The Odessa has a breathable OnSteam® microfibre lining. It is made for everyday wear, mid-season and mild winter days.

How do I care for my Groundies?

Smooth leather: a damp cloth, then a nourishing conditioner from time to time. Suede and nubuck: a suitable brush, and a waterproofing spray before the first wear.
