Choosing your Bohempia

What to know about the fit before you order.

Width

Bohempia suits medium to wide feet. The long laces of the Herlik and Felix adapt to both high and low insteps, and the Felix toe makes it look slimmer. Good to know: barefoot shoes always leave far more room than conventional shoes, and your toes naturally spread out as you wear them.

Size

Rely on the size chart in cm on the product page; we recommend adding 0.5 to 1.2 cm for comfort. The Yura may feel a little snug at first: its sturdy material softens and shapes to your foot after a few wears.

Sole

Herlik and Felix: 4 mm natural rubber, glued and vulcanised. Yura: 7 mm with a non-slip tread, stitched and glued for better water resistance. All have a removable 4 mm insole.

Which model?

Herlik: the iconic low-top sneaker in hemp canvas, with a clean look. Felix: hemp and vegan suede, with a soft padded collar for sensitive ankles. Yura: sturdy, water-repellent microfibre ankle boot for autumn and winter.

The size chart in cm is on every product page.

Bohempia at a glance

Founded in 2015 by Tomas Rohal, Bohempia wants to bring hemp back into fashion. Each model is designed, prototyped and tested in its Prague studio, then made in small workshops in the European Union: in Romania for the Herlik and Felix, in the Czech Republic for the Yura.

The brand is a PETA member, and all its shoes are vegan.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose my Bohempia size?

Measure your foot from heel to longest toe, then compare it with the size chart in cm on the product page. We recommend adding 0.5 to 1.2 cm for comfort: closer to 0.5 cm if you like a snug fit, closer to 1.2 cm if you like room for your toes or wear thick socks.

What does hemp bring?

It is a natural, breathable and very hard-wearing fibre. Bohempia uses it as canvas for the Herlik and Felix, lined with cotton.

Herlik or Felix: what is the difference?

The Herlik is the iconic low-top sneaker, all in hemp canvas. The Felix combines hemp and vegan suede, with a toe that makes it look slimmer and a softer padded collar around the ankle.

Is the Yura waterproof?

It is water-repellent once waterproofed, and its stitched and glued sole stands up well to water. It is the ankle boot for autumn and winter.

How do I care for my Bohempia?

Apply a protective spray before the first wear, then regularly. Clean with a soft brush or damp cloth, let them dry naturally away from heat sources, and never machine-wash them.

Where are Bohempia shoes made?

In the European Union: in Romania for the Herlik and Felix, in the Czech Republic for the Yura.
